What To Do If My Washer Is Full Of Water?

Introduction

Washing machines make it easier to wash loads of clothes, especially when you have a large family or do many laundries. Washing machines usually seem effortless in comparison to doing laundry with hands. The washer stirs the clothes with detergents and water to remove any stains and dirt from them.

The washing machine has a container known as a tub, and a drum spins inside it that does the washing. A pump is used to drain water out of the washer when the cycle has completed. The valves are operated electrically and used to add water to the washer. The problem can occur when the washer is not draining the water out.

Reasons behind water blockage

People usually believe that the washer performs a draining function on its own. It is assisted with a pump and a drainpipe to remove all the water. It can be frustrating when the washing machine is full of water, and the washer is not draining the water. The washing machine drain pump or the hose pipe might be clogged, which usually occurs when some piece of cloth or coin has flipped into the drain system.

Another possibility may be a broken lid switch or the belt, or it can be as simple as the hose being blocked. Whatever the reason behind the water blockage, it is necessary to drain water out of the clothes washer before further processing.

Working of the drain system

The water is removed from the tub during a spin cycle. The washing machine pump sends water from the bottom of the washer into the hose. The hosepipe goes up the machine and down the drain, filling the tub with water. When water approaches the bend of the drain hose, it moves out of it.

The solution to fix the water problem in the washer

It can be unpleasant when you go to the washing machine to transfer spun clothes to the dryer, but the clothes are still soaking in water even after the spinning cycle has come to an end and water remains in the water tub. You turn on the spin cycle again and see if the water drains, but you are left with the wet clothes and the washer full of water.

If water is not draining from the washing machine, you can consider the following options:

You can withdraw water from it manually, but it can be time-consuming and slow. It will also be difficult to bend into the tub to remove the water repeatedly. In such case:

  • Turn off the washing machine and locate the drainpipe at the back.
  • Put the pipe in a bucket and let the water drain.
  • Check the drain pipe for any clogs and remove them.
  • Check if the washing machine pump is working properly and is not clogged.
  • Inspect lid switch or any broken belts.

After draining the water from the washer and checking the pump, lid switch, and hose pipe for any damages, and if you still can’t spot the problem, you should probably call a washer repair service or a professional plumber.
